We are proud that leading tenor Juan Diego Flórez has granted us a short exclusive interview.
Opera Lively is honored by his gracious gesture. Also, our thanks to Adminstrator Schigolch who got it done, and to Mr. Flórez's agent Mr. Palacio.
1) You have been extremely successful with the Bel Canto repertoire. What would you like to do next, maybe some of the more obscure that aren't done that often?
I think there are several unknown operas that I may like to do, but sometimes it is hard to get the audience to listen to them. Only in certain cases this happens. It's not just down to what the artist wants to sing, but the practical possibilities for a theater to put them on. And there are many in the bel canto repertoire. I would like to add new titles to my repertoire, but before entering the unknown titles I think I must first debut works like "Cosi fan tutte", or similar, which is part of the big repertoire, and which for various reasons I have not yet had a way of singing.
