    Streaming

Bayerische Staatsoper (Munich Opera House) is streaming live two operas - L'elisir d'amore and Don Carlo.

    Details

This is great news, just disappointed that I won't be able to watch the Don Carlo.

Cool! Thanks, Annie! Not sure if I'll be able to see the Don Carlo either, but I'll do my best.

I am seriously in a state of happy shock about this!!! Look at that cast! I will be able to watch and am already making plans to possibly upgrade my cable service (although it was perfectly fine for Fidelio last year) if only for one month.

I was hoping to do a test run on L'elisir but will be out of town that weekend.

I don't like that picture of Dulcamara appearing in some weird vessel a'la StarCraft. Thank you but I'll rather listen to those 437307407143 older recordings to be found in web instead.

I saw this strange production in Munich last year with Joseph Calleja as Nemorino & Nino Machaidze as Adina. Great singing from these two but that infernal machine made so much noise it drowned out Alessandro Corbelli.

Oh, I hope that Don Carlo is subsequently released on DVD (unlike last year's production of Fidelio). Kaufmann and Harteros are a fabulous duo; for me, they save that oddball Munich Lohengrin from 2009.

So do I. I'd literally kill for it, (well, kill a mosquito). I'll be away on holiday so I'll miss it.

I've just watched Pavol Breslik in Lucrezia Borgia and I thought he was pretty good. Might be able to catch the Elisir if I get up at the crack of dawn

And now it's live! Only until Monday, though. From what I've watched, it's absolutely fabulous. Love the sets, and the singers (at least those I've heard so far) are all wonderful.

    Part one
    Part two

Thank goodness you reminded me Aksel, I'd forgotten I even posted this.

Just finished watching, now in love with Adriana Kučerová who played Gretel. I love her voice!!

I've only watched the first 30 minutes or so, but I adore her as well. A bit iffy on the German, but a really lovely voice!

Ok, so I lied a little, teeny tiny bit in the last post (it was in fact the first 15-20 minutes I'd seen). But now I've seen the first act, and I must say I'm very impressed indeed. It is superbly conducted, and I must say that the LPO horns play exceptionally well. The start of the Hexenritt sent shivers up my spine.
The kids are great, and I do think that Adriana Kučerová is my favourite Gretel ever, at least based on the first act alone. Also, shoutouts to the parents, especially the father, sung by Klaus Kutter. Eine Hex, steinalt was really amazing. And to think I'll have to finish it tomorrow. How will I ever manage?

How do I convert those starting times to New York time?

NYT+6. So when it's 6 PM in New York, it's midnight on our side of the pond.
