    IL TEATRO ILLUSTRATO

Hi my first post and if I'm being honest, I'm here hoping to find out more about a collection of Italian Opera books that have come into my possession
However as most are written in italian my own research is limited

So my apologies if I am in the wrong thread

Foremost amongst them are two large Antiquarian Vols entitled -IL TEATRO ILLUSTRATO

    Vol 1 is dated 1881-1884 , Vol 2 is dated 1885-1888

They would appear to contain 88 + separate editions of " Il teatro Illustrato" with numerous illustrations
( which are very impressive )
There are various references online including The RIPM Website which gives a brief introduction.
But I would love to gather as much information as possible as I Have become quite an admirer of the Volumes
They appear to be quite rare and i will happily share any info or pictures with any interested parties

    Hoping someone can help

    Regards peter

Hi, Peter. Welcome to Opera Lively. Hopefully you will like us and stay around even after you get what you need about this collection of books. I believe the OL member most equipped to help you is Mario, who is Italian and very knowledgeable. I will send him a private message bringing his attention to this thread. Yes, more likely this post of yours belongs in our existing Books thread but that's OK, no worries. I can always move the post there once the discussion is finished. Cheers.

Oh, and by the way, yes, we'd love to see pictures. Here is how we upload pictures. First, save the pictures to your computer and open them with a photo editing software and reduce their size to about 720, up to 800 pixels in their horizontal dimension otherwise they will spill out of the page. Then, start a post, and click on the little Picture icon that is right to the left of the little film icon on top of the field where you type your words. A dialogue box will open. Forget about the button in the middle and click rather on the line that reads "basic uploader" which is on the bottom right corner of the dialogue box. Then a Browse button will appear; click on it, browse to the picture you've saved, click on open, and then you'll be back to the dialogue box where you'll click on Upload File.

You probably already know about these things but our version of vBulletin stopped supporting the regular uploader and they installed this "basic uploader" instead which is not self-evident.

Thank you for your prompt reply and warm welcome.
I do intend to stay around as my appreciation of opera grows ( thanks youtube )
however i would be lying if I said that i like all opera ,but it is such a diverse Art form that
    there's something for everyone.
I would love to share some pictures with the forum.
but bear with me as computer skills and myself are not the best of companions

    regards Peter

Indeed. Looks like the picture is too small. Maybe you tried to reduce it using the wrong software. Paint for example doesn't do it properly. Microsoft Office Picture Manager does it. You click on Edit then Resize. If you are using Mac then I'm at a loss. I don't have any expertise whatsoever on Mac, I have no idea how to use any of their software. Hopefully someone else here knows about it.

Even though I must say, I am someone who will be of absolute no help to you in this matter!

I am interested though; it looks like you have some treasures there!

    Yes please!

Have you thought about getting them valued?

Hi thanks for your kind comments i'm really thrilled that people are as appreciative about the books as I am,
and no i haven't considered getting them valued as there not going anywhere.

Random selection as there are numerous pictures of various subjects.

    regards
