Psychiatry which I studied at the Université de Paris VI - Pierre et Marie Curie (as well as Columbia University in New York City). I also earned a PhD in Psychoanalytical Theory at the Université de Paris VIII - Vincennes (nowadays called Vincennes-Saint-Denis) and did psychoanalytical training at the École de la Cause Freudienne in Paris.

These days, though, I hardly practice psychoanalysis any longer, but rather, biological psychiatry (I'm an associate professor of psychiatry at Duke University).

Oh, and call me Luiz, or Alma (short for my old nickname here, Almaviva). No need for Dr. Gazzola here.

I'm sorry if I sounded a bit too formal, thanks for telling me! I will now call you Luiz.

I'm thoroughly impressed by your parcours! Paris isn't an easy faculty! What also amazes me is that we have something yet again in common: Psychiatry. Although I'm only in my 3rd year of medical studies, Psychiatry is what I've always wanted to practice since high school. Unfortunately, we don't get many opportunities to delve into it before specialisation... so I study psychiatric semiology on my own when I have time.
I'm leaning more towards adolescent psychiatry though.
Do you practice in the hospital too? What do you do exactly in biological psychiatry? I know we have a research unit here for it - but I'm unsure as to what they study there.
