I arrived home last night after a week in sunny LA, with temps averaging in the mid-80s F (ca. 30 C for you guys overseas..).

Warm and sunny can't be beat, but it all came to an end when I walked out of Dulles International into 37 F (1 or 2 C) last night - mild, compared with a year ago, but still...

30 sounds just about perfect! Hope you've had a good time.

Was down in Hawkes Bay and the weather was gorgeous, vibrant autumn colours, sparkling blue sea, and 23C (though down to 6C overnight). This in May, which is the equivalent of Northern Hemisphere's November. I'm still going to work in short sleeves here in Auckland where it is very mild.

We're expected to have morning frost this Sunday and Monday. The last time we had frost I was about 5 years old!

Do you ever get snow where you live?

No. As a rule, it never snows in Brazil. There are some isolated exceptions, a dozen tiny cities scattered through the southern states in higher altitudes but even there it is rare and momentary, snow lasts only a few hours.

Hey Luiz - I've been worried about you with all the hurricane-associated weather events in North Carolina. Is everything ok with you and the Countess? How have you been holding up down there?

Thanks for asking, we are fine. The hurricane missed us almost completely. We just got some heavy rain here, no floods, and 5 minutes of power outage; that was about it. Further east, however, the state is a mess.

It is now 5:12 AM and 28C. After blissfully mild November-December it seems Summer has arrived.

    I'm not crazy about it.

Send two or three degrees our way please. It's still coldish, max 21C in the day. Have not had a swim yet.
