I just received the '07 Met HD I Puritani. I had originally declined to get it because of the tenor. But the price was right, so it goes in the player tonight. Assuming that the heavy duty thunderstorms forecast here don't knock out the power again.

I was not looking for another Don Giovanni recording. I didn't want one. I am very happy with the Jacobs on HM.

However, on the way to the market (Monsieur Cheese has changed from Wednesday market to Saturday market) I passed the charity shop and found this one in immaculate condition.

Because of the condition, I like to imagine the previous owner loved it very much and treasured it. Of course he could have just hated it and never touched it but I would like to imagine the first scenario. The book even smells of new book when I open it. No marks or creases, they must have read it wearing white cotton gloves, like me.

    Mozart: Don Giovanni, K527
Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau (Don Giovanni), Sena Jurinac (Donna Anna), Ernst Haeflinger (Don Ottavio), Maria Stader (Donna Elvira), Karl Christian Kohn (Leporello), Walter Kreppel (Il Commendatore), Ivan Sardi (Masetto), Irmgard Seefried (Zerlina)
    RIAS-Kammerchor Radio-Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Ferenc Fricsay

Of course I thought Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau warranted further investigation

Now that Hoffman has made a nice profit on his property sale in red hot DC real estate market, I expect to see a steady flow of new purchases

    I was thinking the same!

And maybe he will be travelling even further afield.

You know, although Sydney is a lot of fun, and it is a fantastic looking opera house from the outside, I would not recommend it:

    • Tiny stage
    • Dull repertoire
    • Worst acoustics of any concert/opera venue I have been in. Sucks all the resonance out of your voice. The concert chamber is not much better.

Yes but if the Hoffmann Eastern Coast Real Estate Investments Management Fund LLC was to fund the 2015 OL Annual party in Sydney, I for one, would say hell yes!

    Oh what a shame.

Do you know of any plans to refurbish the inside?
