So I'm trying to order whatever I don't have. And if you like Gedda with Talvela, the Met recently issued the DVD of their 1978 Bartered Bride with Gedda, Stratas, Vickers, and Talvela, Levine on the podium. I was actually at that performance (I'd like to say I was still "in utero," but I won't lie....), and it was a magical one! Beczala and Giordani both know that even though I adore them, there will always be only Gedda! Since I've been making faux pas since I registered here, I probably have this in the wrong place, so I will say that the last 3 CDs I ordered, were the historical 1963 Manon with Gedda and de los Angeles, and both of Piotr Beczala's solo albums, "Salut," and "Slavic." I think they're divine. Sorry if this is long, but you DO have good taste.
That's kind of you to say so but I'm still very much a novice compared with most people on here. My 'must have a recording of' singer is Sherrill Milnes & I don't care what he sings! And no your post isn't in the wrong place.

    My latest purchase is this.

This was the first opera which a lovely lady I'd met on Twitter & who I met in person for the first time at Les Troyens rehearsal, had seen & which got her hooked on opera. Such a fabulous way to start her opera journey! Anyway I've ordered it. [homework - like I need an excuse]

The opera is pretty good, HC. But the production may not to your liking, if I know your tastes.

I have done my duty to support opera industry and Miss DiDonato in particular .....

Despite Alma's reservations my own youtube sampling leads me to believe I will be quite happy with this

Annie (if I may), I love Sherrill Milnes! I heard him sing at the Met many times. Several years ago,(probably before you were born), he was just about the best there was. And a nice man, too. So, yes......you do have good taste! (And if you're hooked on baritones, watch and listen to Mariusz Kwiecien. The voice is wonderful, but he is also a mesmerizing actor onstage.)

Over the last month I went a "little" crazy:

Tristan und Isolde number 4... along with Karajan, Furtwangler, and Bohm.
