Levine for the DVD and Solti for the CD set, which nicely share several key performers: Karita Matilla, Ben Heppner, & Rene Pape

As I remember, McIntyre is good, though he looks too old to be a possible suitor for Eva. The real vocal drawback is Paul Frey's harsh, labored Walther (though he looks the part just fine).

It had mixed reviews for sure but for $6.25 shipped I could nor resist. It is from one of these goodwill sellers, so I am hoping that there will be both disks when it arrives. Some would have no idea and see a partial set with one disk and think all is fine. We'll see.

Also much looking forward to the English language CD set, Mastersingers.

That's okay. I should not buy any more. I think I have enough with 4 DVDs. It's just that I get all jittery and worried and stuff if I am not buying music online. You know how it is, no?
