at least we have good sound and picture quality

Could be worse as demonstrated by recent mega budget hollywood LA Ring (cartoon show)
even though some scences/characters look interesting in a bizarre way, surprised there is no DVD version available at this time

Well, the LA Ring led the company almost straight to bankruptcy, so I'm not really that surprised.

Get an idea of why here.

This article has my favourite "utter nonsense from an artistic director" quote:

"The psychological dimension is outsourced to other forms of expression, like the lighting. It's hard for singers to understand the context of scale of what he's doing," said Christopher Koelsch, the head of artistic planning.

I am not the biggest fan of Offenbach but I don't mind his music every now and then.

That one is hilarious! And it has Felicity Lott! Double win!

EDIT: AND the production is by Laurent Pelly! Triple win!

Following the web address from member Aramis (or Anne of Green Gables), I ordered and received these CDs from Poland (first time I ever ordered music from Poland), direct from Pro Camerata Musica, a rather boutique size record label that often records historically informed performance practice of Baroque music, seldom featured in other online shops. These included versions of Handel's Giulio Cesare in Egitto and Imeneo, which I never knew existed, and now happily part of my Handelian Empire.

I have not yet purchased the pictured Alessandro above. I have the Lotario above, which I think it is the only currently available version. It is one of those rare Handel operas but a fine one. There appears to be some cuts made in order to fit it onto two CDs thanks to the greedy record company.

I saw that Handel Lotario long time ago because of Simone Kermes singing.....but to my horror found out that some da capo sections were cut to squeeze down to 2CD set

    That is a crime!

Yes, it does look tastefully done. Alright, I do admit I judge a book by its cover.
