I also got the Glyndebourne Don Giovanni during the presto sale. Other sale DVDs that have recently arrived are these two, both of which I've seen but didn't own:

    And some new releases:

Wow, Adelaide di Borgogna! Very obscure Rossini opera, with a couple of recordings. And it's with Jessica Pratt, one of our scheduled interviewees. You gotta tell me how good this is. Please move it to the top of your pile. I just got a $50 gift certificate, and instead of buying a Brunello, might buy a couple of opera DVDs since you insist...

My copy of this has such poor sound quality that I've alwayes wondered whether mine is a faulty copy or if this is just like it is. A pity, because it's otherwise one I would enjoy. Please tell me when you've seen it if your experience is the same, Natalie.

Hm, who is this lady, Renée Fleming? Do you happen to like her? Have you ever listened to her before?

I've seen this cd referenced so often, I finally broke down to see what all the excitement is about:

There is a way to get almost that much Verdi much cheaper with 35 CD EMI boxset featuring mostly Muti recordings, all highly rated recordings, current price $62 new Amazon USA

My problem with any of these big sets is that I already have most of the recordings individually

Her name seemed to ring a bell, so I figured I may just as well take the gamble.

If this is anything like as good as Artaserse, I am in for a treat.

I shall buy one. Let us know after you have listened to it. Handel wrote an opera of the same title, too.
