I'm really hoping to distract them from my latest haul, so your Britten purchase was a godsend

    Gasp!

I've been eyeing the Bartoli & Jo Norma but have been scared by the negative comments on Amazon.com. Can you give us a review after you've listened to it?

    A rewarding project

I understand the appeal of acquiring the individual boxsets with nice booklet and slipcase, the large EMI/Membran sets are so cheap and provide instant gratifacation, gift from the opera gods

I watched this on YT and got very bored. And while physically Uria-Monzon is the most beautiful Carmen out there, her voice has this massive wobble that really puts me off watching anything she is in.

Except that Pristine Classical has better remastered versions of quite a few of her works.

Yes but they cost a small fortune, I have all Callas operas by Pristine released so far, the sound quality is amazing

This would not be a 1,2,3 or even 4th best Carmen recommendation......only for those who who have several versions and want to explore. Visually dreary set and kinda sleazy cast of characters from youtubes I watched, if it is really weak then for sale it goes......

That woman on the cover is the most beautiful Carmen out there????

    No love for this one?

Looks like a Barbie in this - although she is lovely au naturel too. I guess I just don't like looking at women who are wearing a lot of make-up.

Well, poor thing, she needs to wear the make-up because she is a pale Nordic blonde and Carmen is a hot Mediterranean tanned brunette. But she *is* much prettier than the other lady.

Hey, what do you have against Barbies? Ms. Jenkins, and now, Ms. Garanca are both Barbies? They're good-looking Barbies!!!

Our dear Almaviva has turned "hotness" into an ethnological characteristic!
