To continue with The Haunted Manor. I've listened to about two thirds & I absolutely love it. One of the reviewers on Amazon likened it to Rossini and I have to agree. It's a wonderful typical story of two brothers and two sisters who despite misunderstandings end up getting married & living happily ever after.

I'll listen to the rest over the weekend & do some research on the singers because they are fab & report some more ... and in the right thread.

I just received the Wagner at the Met box set.
I haven't started listening to it yet, but I have to say,
what a beautiful set this is!!!!!!
Sturdy, well made cardboard outer box.
Beautiful booklet with plenty of great pictures.
Beautiful cardboard booklet like cd cases that fold open.
This really is a gorgeous collectors item.
For 40 dollars, if you're at all interested in this, GET IT.
    You'll love it.
    And now for the singing.

I'm sure the Verdi at the Met box is just as beautiful, for all you Verdi fans.

No, my phone is only 5 months old. Gold, though. Have to think about that!

I did have to buy a second iPod Nano (that's the one pictured above) because it only has a capacity of 16 Gigabytes, which is equal to only a portion of my downloaded operas. So, now I can keep German operas and vocal music on one and Italian and French on the other.

Oh dear. I have three 32Gb Walkmans (Walkmen?) - German, Russian and French; Italian and Spanish; Baroque and Classical period; and one 16GB - Vocal collections and lieder. Wagner is putting a bit of pressure on the German one - I'm going to have to start deleting, although Spotify is a godsend in that I can now pre-view and only buy CDs I really want.

Listened to the Bohm Daphne today. I thought it was wonderful.
The singers and conducting cant be beat imho.
The stereo recording is full and rich and I heard very little audience noise.
I don't see how this can be topped.
    Libretto included.
