This purchase is inspired by the writings of Schigolch in the OL exclusive articles. I don't think anyone who has not heard the opera Lulu before can read this article and not want to...

This recording for Lulu is not the best according to Sensei Schigolch but is two in one...

I remember really enjoying Thomas Allen's Don Giovanni and Sumi Jo's Queen of the Night years ago (about 20?) at ROH but for some reason I have not listened to any Mozart in the intervening years. I am really looking forward to listening to these after reading so many positive reviews on Presto's site and Amazon.

I also decided to enjoy some more of Gardelli's Verdi recordings.

That should realize my November purchasing budget.

As a bonus you get lovely deluxe packaging to cuddle and admire whilst the music plays......

A helpless feeling to know one day into the month and your entire purchase budget has been blown, what to do

I don't recall whether you already have them or not (and my knowledge is based upon friend Dark Angel's wise counsel), don't forget Gardelli's Nabucco and Macbeth (available through Arkivmusic) recordings with Elena Suliotis.

I purchased the Nabucco on my last shopping trip to Presto but I couldn't find Macbeth at a reasonable price; that was before you introduced me to Arkivmusic. I am making my first purchase through them for the Un giorno recording. Suliotis' Macbeth is pretty high on my to buy list (I think currently ranked number ninety-three).

Since I must own every Callas boxset this ended up in my hands recently, I expected it to be collection of recordings all of which I already owned.....but

Disc 1 contained a big surprise, 4 tracks of Anna Bolena from 1958 stereo Rescigno.....this is not available on any current CD release, I think it was a personal master tape copy held by Walter Legge then by wife Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, sounds fabulous

Legge must have been a Callas devotee since this Sonnambula was also a personal master tape he owned and never released on EMI, it also sounds great.....

Good supernatural fun. Already listened to it once. I'd love to see a suitably spooky performance.

It's a great recording but be warned, the gun shot is very loud especially if you're listening on head/ear phones.

Ever been shopping in the land of the rising sun? Not only does the Callas nut grow abundantly there but I understand that suitably the record companies are big enough to sometimes do their own funky stuff...

These two blu rays in my buy basket for mid November release Amazon USA, been several months now since my last opera video purchase

I also am waiting for Jonas Kaufmann Parsifal (directors cut unrated extra blood version) to appear on Amazon USA, Presto UK just listed it for pre order....

Slightly off topic the Gardiner set of Bach Cantatas boxset has been released and Presto UK currently has it for 20% off sale, very tempting! I hope they kept the great artwork on each CD sleeve

Oh wow, I'll certainly buy the Les Troyens - good memories of having attended it live with Annie, Nat, and Elektra.

I can't read the credits on this Carmen - who is in it? Is it good?
