Definitely, if you buy a decent number of items from Amazon, given that you get free express delivery (in two business days). It pays for itself quite fast, and then you also get free streaming of many movies. I buy many items from Amazon, not only CDs and DVDs but even groceries, so for me I save a lot of money and then I enjoy the benefit of fast and free delivery and free movies.

HA! Great Klingon Opera clip. Thanks. Reminds me...Not opera-related but in one of the Star Trek movies, a Klingon says (I'm paraphrasing, I don't remember the exact words), "You haven't really experienced Shakespeare unless you hear it in the original Klingon". :-)

A couple Callas novelties, I am sure I have all these recordings in multiple collections but the photo album booklet packaging is cool

Why are there almost no "coming soon" future releases of opera DVD or blu ray?

I have noticed the last couple months at Amazon USA and Presto UK that there are almost no future releases listed, I can't remember a time in last 10 years when this has happened, what is going on?

I agree that the pickings are slim, but we do have

    Parsifal with Kaufmann
Le Comte Ory from Cecila Bartoli from Zurich Opera House
Written On Skin from The Royal Opera
The Legend Of The Invisible City Of Kitezh from De Nederlandse Opera
Britten - Grimes on Aldeburgh Beach
Cos fan Tutte in Haneke's rather odd production from Madrid
    Luisa Miller from Malm
    Natalie

I'm really afraid it's a consequence of too many YouTube full operas, pirate vendors, Internet broadcasts so the recording companies may be losing interest in the operatic market. That's why I've always been against piracy and some people said I was being too strict. We are killing the golden egg goose.

I think I can guess a few forum members making these purchases.

Actually I'm getting everything except Cosi fan tutte because I saw it on YouTube and am not sure I like it enough to purchase, and probably Luisa Miller unless there is some compelling reason to.

I will only buy the "bloody" Parsifal with Kaufmann, none of the others will extract money from my wallet, almost nothing new in opera video available this holiday season......

Last year we had a bounty of choice including the new Tutto Verdi series, my only recent video purchase the last 3 months has been the ROH Les Troyens

Yesterday (off topic) there were amazing sales of blu ray TV series on Amazon USA, for instance picked up seasons 1-4 of Breaking Bad blu ray for $11.99 prime each which includes 2 day shipping
