I bought that Les Danaides on sale like two years ago and it still remains in my unlistened pile. I must give it a go.

I'm sort of fascinated by Salieri - all I know about him is that dreadful persona created by Peter Schaeffer in Amadeus. I read a couple of reviews of his operas (Grove Dictionary, etc) and they discuss how influential and popular Salieri was, including consideration at the time as the natural heir to Gluck.

I will be interested to hear what you think about Les Danaides after you haul it out of that pile!

To borrow a line from Oscar Wilde, I can resist everything but temptation.

Thanks to Hoffmann for the tip!

***Any concepts of purchasing budgets have been discarded and thrown in the gutter with all the other cheap waste. There is very little planning and absolutely no control.***

I am signing up for Opera Addicts Anonymous straight away.

Just as soon as I can figure out where.

Okay, today I was calmly driving home and passed by a 2001 store (2001 is the biggest and best video rental service in the city, famous for having cult and rare releases you can't find anywhere else) which is closing down because nobody rents physical media anymore, and they had a sign ON SALE: DVDS FOR $1 $2 $5 & $10 and I was like WHY NOT? and stopped by.

Shelves were mostly quite empty already, but for my absolute surprise they had a huge opera DVD archive which was practically untouched. I bought 61 (sixty-one) DVDs for 2 bucks each. The girl was very pleased, she thought those would never sell.

Thank you, heaven, for this day.
