Pictorial Travel Blog - Festival d'Aix-en-Provence - Venues

As part of Opera Lively's coverage of the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, we will be publishing a series of pictorial blogs. Click [here] for the portal that will have links to reviews of the operas, interviews with the artists, and other materials such as these blogs.

This one is about the Festival's venues.

Too bad that the Giuseppe Verdi avenue is a bit too modern...

At intermission - the French go outside to... smoke. There's a lot of second-hand smoking in France. Well, this picture doesn't really show it, but believe me, there were lots of smokers there - as well as those drinking a glass of champagne.

The interior during intermission (don't be fooled by the empty seats; it was completely sold out - this was the Pélleas and Mélisande performance. The theater is very comfortable with nice, plush seats with plenty of leg room, excellent view of the stage, and good acoustics.

    Curtain calls, Pelléas et Mélisande.

Stay tuned for more pictures added tonight of the open-air theater where I'll be seeing Così fan tutte. The weather is h holding!

I said the Aix-en Provence festival was near the top of the list of want-to-go-to festivals; I changed my mind, it's at the top!
