    Plácido Domingo

I've searched for a thread dedicated to Plácido Domingo but I can't see it. Anyway I found this today.

    Sublime.

My first Placido experience was this clip of Gott! Welch Dunkel hier from Fidelio. It is made like a movie. Placido comes in about 3:13 (queued up here) and is a most excellent Florestan, perhaps the most fitting in appearance (looking haggard, long hair, thin; not like some fat and/or clean shaven Florestans we have seen on DVD).

Necessities of life: food, water, air, shelter, and opera.

Oh wow! Thank you Florestan. He certainly looks and sounds the part.

I should see if the whole movie is available on You Tube or DVD, but somehow think this is all that is out there on it.

The clip is from a made-for-TV special on Seville in which Domingo sings excerpts from operas connected to the city. (He even sings a "duet" with himself from Il Barbiere di Siviglia.) I wish his German were a little more idiomatic, because it's always a pleasure to hear Florestan's aria so beautifully sung.

Placido is an amazing singer! I really love him! An excellent musician!

The first time I heard his voice was with the Three Tenors and then his version of pop song ‘Where Do I Begin’. Since then I’m a big fan.

Very versatile with incredible sense of music.
