Anna Netrebko to undergo foot surgery, cancels performances in Germany and London

It is with great regret that Anna Netrebko must cancel her performances over the next three weeks in order to undergo surgery to alleviate severe pain in her foot. The affected performances include concerts with Erwin Schrott in Baden-Baden (January 3), Hannover (January 6), and Mannheim (January 9), which will all be rescheduled for later in the year, as well as two performances of "La traviata" at the Royal Opera House in London (January 17 and 20). Ms. Netrebko is sorry to disappoint her fans and looks forward to returning to the stage later in January once she has fully recovered from the operation.

    Poor thing.

I have tickets for her Manon in April, I hope she is fully recovered by then.

Alma, I'm sure she'll need a good physician to take care of her after surgery. You could offer her your services . . .

Or at least a few therapeutic foot rubs.

Will he sing Les Troyens at the ROH? Or is he out of that one for good, in favor of Bryan Hymel?

I don't think he's doing Enče. It seems like he's doing a couple of recitals, and then starting rehearsals for his Bacchus in Salzburg.

July issue of Opera News Magazine: boring!!!!
You know, I'd do the summary for our News section.
But I just can't find any motivation.

What is wrong with Opera News Magazine?

Should the entire editorial staff be fired?

This is becoming more and more a stiff, uninteresting, old-fashioned, hyper-conservative bore!

After the fight with Gelb, I was expecting that this issue would have some fireworks.

Much the opposite, it is one of the least interesting issues I've ever read.

I'm sick and tired of Opera News Magazine. America is a cauldron of new opera. We're actually having more world premieres than any other country. There are lots of interesting things happening. But you wouldn't tell, by reading our major operatic publication.

These editors have no clue. None.

I refuse to summarize this issue. It's just not worth it.

Thank you! Yes I intend to review all four operas which I think will be a first for Opera Lively in the live setting.
