Adriano's cavatina (including the cabaletta, starting at 6:07), from Giacomo Meyerbeer's brilliant Italian opera, Il crociato in Egitto.

Let's trace again the cavatina/cabaletta pairing to this beautiful fragment from Berlioz's Benvenuto Cellini. With a superb performance from Patrizia Ciofi:

LOVE this thread - so much bel canto goodness! Lots of my favourites have already been mentioned, but I think that the Malibran cabaletta from L'elisir has not been mentioned yet.

Here's Joan knocking it out of the park (from 4:32):

The cabaletta a due from the first act of Roberto Devereux, Un lampo orribili. This whole piece should be a lot more famous than it is. There are something like six/seven cabalettas in it

Oh, and how could I omit Coppia iniqua, the explosive ending to my favourite of the Tudor Cycle - Anna Bolena:

Speaking of Anna Bolena, would Giudici, ad Anna count as the cabaletta (for six and chorus!) to In quegli sguardi, at the end of Act 1?

Thanks Alma, I am incredulous that this has been going two years without my knowledge, whilst I've still been over at "the other place"

Well, I believe their policy is to never advertise a competitor, so, many people there don't know of our existence. We don't have such policy here. We don't fear competitors. We're pretty confident that what we do here is high quality and stands on its own. So, you've missed a lot... explore and enjoy! Do notice that in addition to the forum, we have an extensive journalistic area with exclusive content (many interviews and articles) which you can access from our Home page (there is a clickable index there as well that facilitates getting acquainted with our content).

It most certainly would. In purity, however, as it involves more than two singers, the right name is "stretta", instead of "cabaletta".

Ah, yes - thanks Schigolch. I had a feeling it was slightly different precise terminology. Fabulous ensemble, here's Netrebko's version (strictly for Alma's benefit, y'know )
