I recently borrowed this recording of Tippett's Midsummer Marriage from my library, but
on a different label. It was taken from a BBC radio broadcast, and unfortunately has the voice of
a commentator interfering regularly with n explanation of the plot .
Does the version you have feature this ? Too bad, because it's a really interesting opera .
I hope Decca will reissue the superb Colin Davis studio recording, which was on
Philips, a label which is now unfortunately defunct . If, so, grab it !

Cecilia Bartoli, in an album entitled Sacrificium featuring several coloratura arias from Baroque operas. Il Giardino Armonico (on period instruments). CB was stunning in some of the arias.

Thanks to a youtuber who may be more Nat obsessed than me, I was able to watch a never-released, video-taped from tv version of Lucia from 2008 in San Francisco. Really interesting contrast from the 2007 / 2011 Met production, completely different interpretation of the character by Ms. Dessay and has perhaps my favorite Spargi d'Amaro Pianto of hers.

The 1957 live Callas from Cologne, very good sound and great performance............

The Bartoli version is really the JDF show, great modern sound captures best Elvino available......Bartoli is bit too stretched in the more demanding parts, voice always sounds a bit choppy to me instead of naturally flowing

Schigs what do you think does Callas top her 1955 Bernstein performance, great closing aria!
(the final run keeps expanding till it blows the roof off)
