Remind me to tell you a story about Grigory before he went on stage in Aix.

It's a quite nice work, and Liliane Berton is singing wonderfully.

Curiosity got the better of me. Since I'm already familiar with Beethoven's and Paer's operatic settings of J. N. Bouilly's play, I figured I may as well listen to Mayr's version, as well. (Hint to the recording industry: I couldn't find any CD or DVD of Gaveaux's version. )

I love the way baroque composers recycle their music, this time the most famous of all, spring from the four seasons, as a chorus.

I'd kill to have been at this party - look at the line up: Laura Claycomb, Stéphane Degout, Karine Deshayes, Natalie Dessay, Ann Hallenberg, Philippe Jaroussky, Topi Lehtipuu, Marijana Mijanovic, Sara Mingardo, Sandrine Piau, Renata Pokupic, Anne Sofie Von Otter and Rolando Villazón.

And a fantastic mix of fun and heart rending.

There are precious few Suliotis studio performances since her career was short, but she had some of that wild reckless spirit of Callas that brings a smile to my face......

This is such a great Nabucco recording, I had to play Abigaille's (Suliotis) firey aria "salgo gia" three times to get my fill......what a great opera this is!

Nilsson has a clear powerful voice, but something is not quite right with her cadence of Italian language.....doesn't sound authentic or natural to me like Callas

I'm still hung-up with Infectious and TB so I listened to this recently:

I love Bjorling, de los Angeles, and Merrill.

But since Dark Angel and Schigolch were just talking about Nabucco and I'm very impressionable, I'll be playing this first (which I like better):
