One day I might understand why this opera is not performed more.

Another brilliant presentation by Opera Rara with a great booklet that would fit in to any fine library.
At GBP 28 this has been one of my bargain purchases.

Yes I see US prices are very high (USD 44). I guess too small and specialist a production to serve for US market.

However for the UK it is normal (or in fact very reasonable) CD price.

And as from today, your friendly fruitcake has decided to record recording situation and date for his daily playlist in that other reference place (w), as he thinks it's relevant. (well surprisingly in this case a recordings section that didn't exist!)

Adriana LeCouvreur x 2 (both with Magda Olivero)

I decided to buy all Bel Canto Society (aka opera fanatic) releases, great sounding 1965 live stereo and an earlier 1959 live opera d oro label with superstar cast headed by Franco Corelli

Yes a confusion of feeling pity, anger, sadness and wanting to go to the pub to recuperate (well actually I can find any reason to go the pub); same as felt after listening to Billy Budd!

In the end just satisfied that listening to these operas invoke these strong emotions.
