In this performance, Leo Nucci extended the boundaries of glory. Giacomini almost reached them and Price got as close to them as to remain decent with her star status. But the hero here is Nucci. For me.

A Carmen on period instruments! And with Antonacci, yet! Would you give us your impressions of the performance, HC?

This will be a "real stretch" for Ceci........he he

Wait till I get my Pristine Classical 32 bit remaster of 1955 Callas Norma, it is by far the best sound I have ever heard for this, even better then the Divina Label release and they have the BJR Records master tape

I am anxiously waiting for your review.
Especially regarding the quality of the
    CD-R.

Still listening to the Anniversary Edition Krauss Ring.
I love it. Awesome singing and I dont think the sound is
as bad as I've read. So far, anyway.

Der Zigeunerbaron (Gypsy Baron) by J. Strauss II

Operetta strictly, I suppose, but very pleasant nonetheless. Gedda and Schwarzkopf are a delightful combo here. Not so keen on Prey.

Researching it because I'm hoping to sing one of the principal parts in a production that the amateur company I am part of are putting on next February.
    Il Conte di Essex
Southgate Opera's upcoming production: The Mikado (sung in English) 18-21 February 2015

It's very beautiful - lovely sets - and fairly well sung but to me doesn't get to the heart of the opera the way the Tony Palmer film does:

However I'm not sure how easy it is to find my favourite version - I have it as part of a box set:

Although it is available on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TY7CVdJJnUk
