New interview in our Home page, with Polish-Brazilian baritone Paulo Szot, currently in Manon alongside Anna Netrebko and Piotr Beczala at the Met.

This first part of the interview is in English. In the near future the second part, in Portuguese, will appear in our International area, with different content.

New exclusive interview with up and coming American baritone Liam Bonner on his participation as di Luna in North Carolina Opera's Il Trovatore. He also talked extensively about his role in new contemporary Pulitzer Prize-winning American opera Silent Night. A very interesting (and at times, funny) interview. Not to be missed!

New interview with American soprano Leah Crocetto who is being hailed as the next great Verdian soprano. She was the winner of the 2010 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Very smart and heartfelt answers.

This is not exactly an interview since the questions did not come from Opera Lively, but it reads as one. It's a conversation with four legendary African-American opera singers of the past, including Leona Mitchell (who has appeared in Metropolitan Opera productions preserved on DVD alongside Domingo, Pavarotti, and Carreras and sung at the Met for 18 seasons), George Shirley (the first African-American tenor who sung leading roles at the Met, with a career spanning 53 years), Martha Flowers, a noted performer of the role of Bess all over Europe, South America, and Asia, including La Scala, and Hilda Harris, mezzo-soprano who sang several pant roles at the Met. Almaviva recorded and transcribed the conversation.

The new interview with opera stage director Thaddeus Strassberger is extremely interesting, in my opinion. It is very long but very rich in information about the ins and outs of the opera producing business, as well as great insights about Regietheater, updating of operas, how to stage Verdi, etc. I believe that Mr. Strassberger is a brilliant man. Don't miss this one, folks! It is great!
