Thanks! You're quick. I was just coming back as I'd found it (finally) on a blog.

When it says "Lee" in the cast is that Yonghoon Lee? If so tell us what you think.

Do you perhaps think that depth and interest of his thoughts depends on Yonghoon Lee's participation in this performance? What idea. I'd like him to tell us what he thinks no matter who will sing in ROH's Tosca tonight.

I know that the depth and interest of my thoughts do, hence the specific question. I'm curious to know how Lee sounds live, and how he gets on with singing Cavaradossi. I've only heard him in a YouTube of Turandot and thought he sounded great there, but that's a fairly one-dimensional role, to be honest, and YouTube is not high enough quality to give you a good idea of someone's voice.

Well you all know Tosca, and you may know this production via the DVD. IT was great.

Ill just review the singers briefly:
Yonghoon Lee - he was really good but I wouldn't say amazing. He has certainly got a very beautiful voice, very deep and dark so that he struggled sometimes to be heard.
Kristine Opolais - is really utterly brilliant. It all seemed effortless and was just beautiful overall. She really got the characterisation right too.
Michael Volle - was a great Scarpia. Very menacing and evil

Interesting, I wonder if he is trying to go for a more "professional" sound by darkening his voice like that.

It's not from opera, it's a concert piece.

If he did it wasnt a wise choice. It was too chesty and sounded like he had to force it out occasionally.

Sigh... Amazon.com and their mass emails... They sent me one entitled "best-selling opera recordings" featuring side-by-side Wagner's Ring and... Andrea Bocelli!!!
