Bumping this thread up a little bit. Some of you may know (particularly Sospiro) that Arsenal Football Club in England is another passion of mine. The majority shareholder is Stan Kroenke who has large holdings in many US sports franchises. Arsenal are not in a good place at the moment My question is thus aimed mainly at US members (but feel free to chip in, if not). What sort of reputation does Kroenke have in the states in sports? He doesn't appear to have won much and moved a team from one city to another. Any views?

I'm a fan of NFL football, and I don't know much about him, but I can't imagine he has very many fans out there. He's kind of a hands-off owner, who I would assume is in it for the money and for the least amount of effort/investment possible. The players have never met him. St. Louis football fans hate him for moving their team away, because they wouldn't help him pay for an extravagant new stadium.

Los Angeles fans are probably happy about the move, but they will now have two mediocre football teams (the San Diego Chargers will become the L.A. Chargers and share the new stadium), and one will eventually become the second-rate of the team. And I'd bet it will be the Rams, because Kroenke kept a terrible coach around for many years longer than he should have. So, I don't think he really cares how the team does.

Excellent soccer game, FA Cup Final, my Arsenal 2, hated rivals Chelsea 1. To top it all, Pedro, a cheating and diving Chelsea player, got expelled for simulation. I love it! Well done, Gunners!

Blowers to hang up his mic. He's brilliant so it's a sad day.

Oh. He's still only 77 years young so I would have thought he could carry on for some years yet. Hopefully during his other commitments he'll get bored and he'll actually continue!

In the meantime, there's the South African series and the West Indies series this summer to enjoy with his input. I'm so very sad that Tony won't be around this summer; tears come to my eyes just thinking of a West Indies series without him.

Tony Crozier? The commentators are what makes TMS so 'special'.

Cricket may be back on terrestrial TV. I hope so as I don't have Sky.

Oh I do hope this works out well! It would be great to see test matches back on the beeb. I really wouldn't mind if the other formats go to Sky and BT (they probably would want the T20 and the ODIs anyway); my main interest is in the test matches. We might need to borrow BBC4 or bring back BBC3 if we were to air the entire test match though.
I have nothing against Sky and thank them for all they have done for the sport but please give me back test cricket on the beeb!
