Project: Opera Lively's Inventory of Opera Today

This thread is for indexing educational content about the current state of opera in the world. Posts and articles indexed here at one point will count on a complete index to be placed as Opera Lively's Inventory of Opera Today in our /learn Wordpress pages.

This project will address the major current repertory houses with their history of successes and struggles, the current singers and stage directors, conductors, composers, recording companies, vendors, etc.

Contributions from members are welcome, and the editorial staff will be making decisions on when/how to index these contributions in the final Inventory of Opera Today area.

Contributions can be posted anywhere in the forum, and then the author should let the staff know about the post, so that it can be indexed once it reaches good enough quality and standard enough format.

Repeating, with more details:

We'll gather in this thread all the names of the various components of our inventory - opera companies, singers, stage directors, conductors, composers, recording companies, vendors. Since the project will address so many different entities, we can't have multiple forums or multiple threads to host it coherently. However, once anything is entered on the database under the form of a post, it stays, and can be retrieved anytime through an index thread with hyperlinks.

One problem is Skimlinks, since sometimes a name will have a hyperlink that directs the clicker to a commercial site rather to one of our articles. But I believe that once we substitute these for links to our articles, they should stay like this. We'll see. If Skimlinks interferes too much we can always disable it.

So, people will be able to start posting about these components. Every time there is a worthy post with the right format and completeness, we'll make of the name of the entity a hyperlink directing the clicker to that post. Therefore, components of the project can be anywhere - if it's about a singer, in the singer-oriented forum; if it's about a contemporary composer, in the contemporary music thread, if it's an opera house, in the general operatic discussion thread, etc. But anybody willing to get Opera Lively's inventory of opera today can come here and those names that are hyperlinked will be parts of the projects that have already been completed. Eventually all names here will be hyperlinks and our inventory will be complete.

This thread will be closed since it will only be an index, and sticky to be easier to find. Therefore, only staff will be able to edit it to include hyperlinks, which will imply some editorial input on what posts, articles, and threads, deserve to be hyperlinked to this index.
