Have you got the CD yet HC? I like it, but I think I'll enjoy it more when I get the story more under my belt and work out who is playing who!

I just found a Figaro from Salzburg '95 with Dorothea Röschmann, today's Contessa du jour, as Susanna. Other cast members include Bryn Terfel (Figaro), Susan Graham (Cherubino), Dima(!!) (Count), and Solveig Kringlebotn (Countess).

I quite enjoyed this, alternate ending and all. Singing is overall very good, Montanari's orchestra is vivid. Some very fast tempi (that's probably the fastest Soave sia il vento I've ever heard), but it doesn't spoil the experience.
Stage direction is brilliant at times. I love the asthma attack during Smanie implacabile, it's just so... in the music.
But then I often fall for the Dorabellas, I find the character so relatable...
Not to mention Daniel Behle's wonderfully awkward dancing. And the Per Pieta. Goodness!

I haven't had a chance to watch it yet. I've downloaded it and will watch it when I've finished my music history exam, which is rather more important. At leas for me. I will try and write something somewhat coherent sometime late next week.

Honestly Aksel get your priorities sorted. Exam-schmezam when it come to the urgency of watching the lovely Jonas.

I attended a live performance just a few months ago. A fascinating event.

Moses und Aron is one of the great operas of the 20th century. The 2006 version with Franz Grundheber and Thomas Moser is fine.

Natalka Poltavka, by Mykola Lysenko. Oldschool movie version, apparently with cuts (as most of opera-movies):

One may browse the channel for more; these videos are difficult to find via search engine, given their titles are written with cyrillic.

Today the ROH streamed a large broadcast of behind the scenes material.

You can see it here: http://thespace.org/

The highpoint is a complete recording of onstage and backstage events (multi camera recording) of Walkure act 3. Very interesting to see watch what goes on behind the scenes of this huge production.
