    Il Quintetto per pianoforte, due violini, viola e violoncello in Sol minore, Op. 30 di Sergej Taneev (compositore e pianista russo) è semplicemente splendido. In Russia almeno la Quarta sinfonia, la cantata di San Giovanni Damasceno e altre composizioni corali fanno parte del repertorio standard dei concerti.

    Possiamo ascoltare qualcosa di compositore austriaco Arnold Schönberg, della sua fase pre-dodecafonica, legata al tardo romanticismo mahleriano. Per esempio, Herzgewächse ("germogli del cuore"), su poesie di Maeterlinck tradotte in tedesco, per arpa, celesta, armonium e soprano:
