Yes, I have it. I haven't listened to it yet, believe it or not! (I did buy a tonne of other stuff during 2012). The Agrippina box-set I have is a rather large one, it came with 3 CDs + 1 DVD. It is still in the plastic clear wrap.....

I am thinking about buying that new Metropolitan Ring you pictured. I think I will. It is on sale right now for about US$105 including freight (Blu-ray).

One should also include these Handel masterpieces

Oh dear. Do I really have to get that Saul? I love Purves and Connolly and the Sixteen and I've been dithering, but I've already got the Harnoncourt one.

Agree with a lot of the above. Got to add:

I watched the DVD from Jacobs/HM Agrippina last night, a 56 minute documentary about rehersals for the staged opera production. Got to meet and see/hear all the main singers perform, many insights from Jacobs about his musical ideas, the staged production was very modern and not really something I would probably be a buyer of.......but the CD is really great and thus the recommendation for 2012

HC open that set and give it a listen, I think you will be impressed.
I really do love these bonus DVDs that show the singers working through a recording or opera staging, you get a real feeling for the personality behind the singer

SF, I love the Harnoncourt(he is my favorite conductor, after all!), but it is rather heavily cut. I would imagine the Christophers is note-complete, but I am not sure. I guess it depends on whether or not you want a complete recording.

As a DVD fan i am going to go with these:

The Lepage Met Ring cycle - a visual and aural treat. Yes, some bit work better than others but i like the 'machinery' and the lack of any real 'concept' to get in the way for a change. Nice sound and camera work.

Wozzeck - from the Bolshoi, Moscow directed by Dmitri Tcherniakov and conducted by Teodor Currentzis. Georg Nigl and Mardi Byers were terrific as Wozzeck and Marie. Made me fall in love once again with this old favourite of mine. Wozzecks descent into madness and Marie's agony was never so well portrayed.

Massenet Don Quichotte with Jose Van Dam from La Monnaie in Belgium. Finally we have a great version of this opera on DVD. I think there is only one other and it is not good. Laurent Pelly makes such a great creative effort in this - i really enjoyed it.

I think if i was going to have a Turkey of the year it would be the Mets new La Fanciulla del West with Vogt and Giordani. Not good!

A better bet is this "silent film" version from Stockholm, not on DVD unfortunately:

That's fantastic. Can't wait. It's my favourite version of my favourite opera!

Well, if you already have a very good version, then perhaps you can wait a little while longer for another one. New version just out would be around for a while anyway. That's how I look at it when I am thinking about additional "nice to have" recordings on top of what I already do have.

This could be the Nina Stemme of old ....loved her in Der Rosenkavalier, hated her in Aida and La Forza. Seems when she plays a woman torn it brings out the best.

2012 was a good year for Baroque opera.
