Hi everybody,

Glad to be a part of this forum and community. I post on TC regularly and listen to a lot of music, and visit the opera when I can - but opera is still a field im looking to learn a lot more about. Hope I can learn here.

Looks like there are some familiar faces here, but look forward to meeting new opera enthusiasts.

Hi Emiel! Welcome back home!

For those who don't know him (I believe Schigolch may not know Emiel, who left for a long stay in Africa), I'd like to introduce him by saying that he is likely to be one of our top contributors, since he is energetic, knowledgeable, and is a musician. I'm thrilled to have Emiel as one of our members; I have missed him a lot during his absence. Great acquisition!

That's Emiellucifuge Countess. :laugh4::

But yes I'm here and I suppose I don't need my own thread. So hi everyone, I'm clavichorder from talkclassical, with a shortened name. I've lately been very interested in 20th century music, and I'd love to know more about 20th century opera. So I'll be asking about that.

Welcome, clavi, you came to the right place, since we count on an outstanding specialist in modern and contemporary opera, Schigolch. Go to the Contemporary Opera thread and you'll find many examples of posts authored by him - a few by me and others, but he's our very prolific expert - about 20th century operas (some of them, 21st century).

Yes, but I missed our mutual acquaintance, he wasn't working there on Sunday. They do have a good opera DVD selection as far as CD stores go(they actually have one, and I think its pretty good). I'm eager to stop by again soon. But then I'll be limited going for a while, money constraints.

It's a very tempting shop, I can understand your reluctance to go again too soon! The area which impressed me the most was the 'used' CD section, it was huge & the quality was superb. I spent far more than I planned & my case was overweight. Thankfully I wasn't charged excess, I suppose I'm such a scrawny thing a few extra pounds didn't matter.
