Hello everyone.
I just finished my first opear season! Il Trovatore at Opera Carolina in Charlotte North Carolina, Les Enfants Terribles at North Carolina Opera Raleigh North Carolina, and Eugene Onegin at Opera Carolina Charlotte NC. After Il Trovatore I couldn't wait for the next shows. Months in between. But it gave me time to study the operas I was going to see and to begin learning about opera in general. I love theater and music and opera is the ultimate. So as I obsess over this I thought this would be a good site to learn what the heck I'm doing! By the way, thanks to Opera Month I got a really good discount on box seats at Opera Carolina. My wife really got a kick out of that!
Cheers
Daniel

Great, daniel42, I'm glad that you joined the site, since you're local to me, and we've been partnering a lot with these companies.
We're actually official partners of Opera Carolina, and as such, we've published an extensive series of articles about their production of Eugene Onegin, including interviews with the maestro, the singers, and a full review of the show. Click [here (http://operalively.com/forums/content.php/299-eugene-onegin)] to read it!

We did the same for North Carolina Opera in a smaller scale, with a report about Les Enfants Terribles that includes interviews with all four singers, and a review. These figure as separate articles; read them [here (http://operalively.com/forums/content.php/281-Interview-with-the-cast-of-NC-Opera-s-Les-Enfants-Terribles)], and [here (http://operalively.com/forums/content.php/285-Philip-Glass-Les-Enfants-Terribles-North-Carolina-Opera-Raleigh-NC-USA)].

We also have a complete Trovatore series, read it [here (http://www.operalively.com/learn/il-trovatore-in-depth/)] (the graphic environment is different, but it is also part of Opera Lively).

Next season at Opera Carolina we'll have in-depth series for all three productions (they have scheduled Tosca, The Magic Flute, and The Pearl Fishers).

NC Opera is doing Il Trovatore as well, in late April, see the announcement in our front page.

Don't forget our other partners, Piedmont Opera, their productions are outstanding as well.

This Sunday I'll be attending a student performance in Greensboro, of Don Giovanni.

Please notice that our Local area is very developed for North Carolina, click [here (http://operalively.com/forums/content.php/159-north-carolina)] to see it, or click on the Section Widget in the Home page to get to it again in the future.

We have schedules for the whole season of all opera companies and student performances, we talk about local events, we publish interviews and reviews... you'll get from Opera Lively everything that you need to know about local and regional opera in North Carolina.

Regarding discounts at Opera Carolina: if you join Bravo! - click [here (http://www.meetup.com/bravooperacarolina/)] - you'll always have tickets there at a discount. Membership is free. Every time you call the box office, just mention that you're a member of Bravo! and they'll discount your ticket by 20%.

Welcome!

Hi Daniel and welcome.

Met in HD cinema showings are a good way to feed the beast in between live shows.

Not to mention DVDs and Blu-rays, but your wife might not be so thrilled at the potential expensive addiction.

Welcome daniel42! We don't often get the chance in real life to converse with an opera singer!

Erm... I don't think daniel42 is an opera singer, HC. I believe he's a new opera fan.

Please excuse the misunderstanding. I'm an opera fan but if I could do it all over again I would be an opera singer. or maybe an Oboe player.

I'd be an oboe player too if I could go back in time and choose an instrument (presently I'm an incompetent adult learner of the piano).
