Opera In-Depth Project

One of the most important areas of our site is our Opera In-Depth project. These are detailed articles with analysis of 100 major operas. They will be published progressively, as they are long and time consuming to write. The next article under this section has a list of the 100 operas we have selected for the project.

To navigate through these articles, click on the Section widget and the various "+" signs to open up the tree of articles. As more In-Depth articles get finished, they will be added to the widget which will function as the index for the project.

For each opera, we will prepare an in-Depth presentation, following more or less closely this schema:

1. Introduction (a brief explanation of the opera, something similar in content to a Wiki article)

2. The genesis of the Opera (reviewing the literary sources, the process of composition, other operas on the same subject...)

3. Around the opera (some brief presentations on related subjects)

4. The Characters and their vocality (including how the music depict them, some singers that have made great interpretations of this particular opera, musical examples,...)

5. Musical Analysis (this part could be short or long, and more or less technical)

6. Discography (cd, dvd,...)

7. The Opera in the Opera House (past productions, how the opera is treated today...)
