Mr. René Barbera is a very promising young tenor who has won some prestigious awards and is already performing opera with important companies. His former voice teacher Dr. Marilyn Taylor of the UNC School of the Arts put Opera Lively in touch with him. We thank him and her for this very interesting interview, and wish Mr. Barbera lots of success in his career. He graciously provided the link and permission to include here a YouTube video of his Operalia performance, and kindly replied to our questions below. Personally, I think that his performance of Pour Mon Âme is terrific, with poise, confidence, charm, and a beautiful voice - no wonder he won the competition! We look forward to seeing him on the operatic stage! [Opera Lively interview # 7]
