Recordings of more operatic rarities as well as standard repertoire works, plus an assortment of recital albums are among new releases reviewed in the February, 2021, issue of Das Opernglas...
No happy ending, that's for sure.
Regrettably, I have few recordings of operas in the Czech (specifically) or Slavic (generally) repertoire. My only other Czech opera is Rusalka, which I suspect you already have.
I have the video version of this, and it's delightful if a little old-fashioned. (The original film was made for TV.)
A feature story on Régine Crespin prompted me to look for YouTube clips with her, and among them was this one of her singing Tosca's "Vissi d'arte." This isn't from an actual staged production, and...

Finally!

A couple of items gleaned from interviews in the December issue of Das Opernglas:
- Lawrence Brownlee has another recording in the works, this one an album of 24 Italian songs and arias, among them...
I do like Serse, but only in the "historically uninformed" style with a tenor in the title role. (I still think JK would be a wonderful Serse!)
Still no sign of the December issue of Opernwelt -- guess it will show up eventually. But in the meantime . . .
A couple of familiar operas, some Baroque rarities, one of Haydn’s lesser-known...
Now this is the way to begin a new year! :encouragement:
That production from Opera Lafayette reuses the same company's staging from performances of Gaveaux's Léonore, and even has the same...
