    Elena House - Opera videos

As I have mentioned elsewhere, my Youtube channel was hacked and subsequently suspended. After 2 months of trying, I have learned that it is very difficult to present proof of being hacked to the internet God...Google (Youtube). Therefore I have started a new channel and have begun to upload old and new singing assignments. I would like to put my Opera assignments in this thread for your viewing. Please feel free to comment as I understand that I am a student who needs feedback. All will be seriously read and appreciated.

This time the videos will not appear in chronological order but rather in the order they are being re-uploaded to Youtube.

My first video will be Poveri Fiori from the opera "Adriana Lecouvreur" by Francesco Cilea.

"Song to the Moon" from "Rusalka"

My Father says this is his favorite song of mine. I hope you like it too. Learning the Czech took almost as long as learning the song.

"Song to the Moon" from "Rusalka" by Antonín Dvořák.

This is my most recent Opera Aria assignment. My next one is taking some time. It is in German and my teacher is on a very deserved break.

Here I am singing "Signore Ascolta" from "Turandot" by Giacomo Puccini.

Elena thanks for sharing your videos, the production value is great with HD sound and picture, very
impressive for young lady learning this profession.

Very smart to use youtube to chronicle your learning process and let others see your progress

I thank you for taking your time to listen to such a beginner as me.
I usually practice with my teacher 1 hour per day 6 days a week. I just came off a cold so I'm a little behind schedule.
I was assigned something simpler, Pie Jesu, while my voice gets back to 100% and then it is back to "Meine Lippen, Sie Kussen so Heiss" from "Giuditta".

    What a great video.
    Aria was very moving.
And the talk at the end is a charming touch.

    Hi everyone.

This is my first song in German so please be gentle about my pronunciation. My dance teacher and I spent 3 weeks putting together the dance moves to go along with the song. The song is "Meine Lippen, sie küssen so heiss" from the Opera "Giuditta" by Frans Lehar. I hope you enjoy the performance.

Great work Elena, did you do that all in one take? These "youngsters" are so multi talented now

I always thought German was hard to sing beatifully with all the hard sharp word endings with "t" etc, always great to have some dance experience also for opera, some roles even have some optional dance like Carmen

Have you seen Netrebko perform this song live, really engages the audience for delightful performance

    Thank you Dark_Angel.
To answer the first question...No, I did not do that in one take because we have only one camera. I had to do the whole performance 5 times to get the footage for my mom to edit it to look more professional. We did 3 runs with the camera far and 2 with the camera from close and from different angles. By the end I felt like I sang a whole opera instead of just one aria. LOL.

To the second question...That video of Anna's was the inspiration for my video! I have watched that video at least 50 times to prepare for making my video. I also took a few moves from Carmen's performance with Andre Rieu and then added in some moves I have learned from my dance teacher who was on the Cuban National Dance troupe. Thanks so much for watching.

(I have some exciting news I hope I can share with everyone tomorrow!)

Thank you Jethro (LOL). I am often limited by the instrumentals available for me to buy on iTunes. Sometimes there is an opportunity for me to make some changes. In this one I cut the instrumental near the end and stretched the blank space to allow me to hold the second-to-the-last B6 note longer because it seemed to fit the performance better.

Edmund St. Austell - Great Opera Singers Blog

    Hi Everyone.

I am so honored and thrilled that Mr. Edmund St. Austell included me in his "Great Opera Singers" Blog. I certainly don't belong among the Gods and Goddesses he writes about in his Blog but I am extremely honored that he chose to use me in his topic of young singers.

Here is an excerpt from the article.

"One of the truly refreshing things about Elena is that she presents herself for exactly what she is—a 14-year old girl who is multi-talented and making her first tenuous steps into an extraordinarily demanding profession. She is not yet a fully professional singer, although some of her performances equal what some young professionals do."

I you would like to see the whole article it can be viewed here:

Here is my assignment for "O Mio Babbino Caro" from the opera "Gianni Schicchi", by Giacomo Puccini. This is the second time I have done this but with a different lesson to be learned. I got my poor dad to be in the video. Enjoy.
