Went for medical tests today, was in the area, thought I deserved a trip to you-know-where.

Also picked out this one. The guy couldn't find the disk to go with the case, but called me later when I got home to say he'd found it and will hold it for me.

Yep, medical exams, having a hard day, some disappointment, whatever. It always makes a good excuse to go buy music!

Very true. I just hope I don't have an even better excuse when I get the final test results.

Ouch, no not that. How about this excuse: Exam comes out perfect, no worried. Time to celebrate with a new CD or two to further unwind from the stress of waiting for the results.

Not sure, but I hear he wrote a hell of a couple of violin concertos.

So my tests turned out benign . . . big scare for nothing. Another bullet dodged!

Before that, I indulged with an order from Amazon:

And another item from the local store:

^^^ Nice! I've got the Argerich/Abbado Tchaikovsky 1st. It's excellent, as I'm sure the others are as well.

First purchase of the new year:

Not only did I get this at a discounted price, no shipping charge, but I got my much-needed new CD shelf for free in the bargain. All because of a gift card from Amazon when I signed up for their credit card (which I'll never use--who needs to pay interest?)

Thank you, Amazon! (Oh oh . . . they can't hear me, can they?)

    Ordered from Amazon:

I'd been meaning to get the classic 1963 Karajan Beethoven cycle for a while now. Of the many available formats, I went for the most recent remastering, with all the symphonies on a single Blu-ray disc.
