I like one of the comments:

"...It would be nice if the words were left on the screen until the end even though they just repeat. My memory is not always able to remember the text..."

    Me too!

I have had this happen too:

"UMS, please look into alternatives to the cough lozenges you kindly provide to patrons. Someone sitting behind us took about five minutes to unwrap one during one of the more moving Lieder.

I think they believe it makes less noise if they open it slowly?

I take mints loose in my pocket so there is not wrapper. It is handy to keep the mouth from going dry because I tend to avoid much liquid before concerts so I won't need the facilities, which often are rather crowded. The mints are especially important if I get a tickle in my throat because then I would invariably end up coughing without the mints.
"Ah,non credea mirarti si presto estinto, o fiore." --Bellini, La Sonnambula (also written on his tomb).

I pretty much follow the same strategy you do, and for the same reasons. I keep my unwrapped mints in a small plastic baggie that I open prior to the performance, and then stash it where all I need to do is slip my fingers in to silently retrieve a mint if the need arises during the performance.

That's a good plan. Unwrapped cough drops and mints pose a problem!

Yes because fluffy cough drops don't really help with a tickly throat!
