Production's kinda grim-dark and ho-hum, but who cares when you've got this cast?
Edit: Just finished Act II and I have to say of the three I have watched so far (all Domingos), this one has some of the best acting and drama, but I felt they over did the dripping blood to the point that there is no way the guy could live by any imagination (but then that's what Rance thought too).

Good catch! Assuming that *is* Lincoln (which even though he's beardless, appears to be the case), I wonder if there's any way to reconcile the apparent inconsistency. The gold rush ended around 1855; by then Lincoln was a major figure in Illinois politics, but not necessarily well known on the national stage, let alone California. So I guess we have to call it an anachronism--though you'd think the Met would be more careful about such details.
I guess an image of Franklin Pierce wouldn't have been very exciting -- and probably very few people would have even recognized him.![]()
