    Yes, this is as brilliant as I remembered it. Petibon's Ah mio Cor has to be the most searing performance of an aria, ever.

    That Alcina is so good it also makes a great drinking game: every time someone dresses or undresses onstage everybody has a shot. Extras making the bed? DOUBLE SHOTS!

    Yesterday I started the intergalactic Magic Flute from Den Norske Opera. Staging is nothing to write home about, super silly at times. Lots of liberties taken with the music. Wasn't really impressed by the singing, the males where especially underwhelming, so I stopped midway. Might finish today.

    Peter Pears and Heather Harper were stunning in this. Pears brings out all the longing and despair of the outsider; his anger is a result of exclusion rather than innate brutality.

    A very silly production but nevermind because Mia Persson and Isabel Leonard are so beautiful. The latter has the most epic eyebrows in opera.
