I assure you the whole thing is great. I listened to the Il Tabarro yesterday.

I actually did not care for this last year when searching out a La Fille du Regiment and got the Devia one (which will always be my favorite) but only 15 minutes into Dessay/Florez La Sonnambula and I went surfing for another Dessay/Florez as I knew right then that one DVD of those two would not be enough. As this was sitting there for under $3 I could not resist. Florez is wonderful but there is something about Dessay that absolutely captivates. She is amazing!

I only know Dessay properly from Ariadne Auf Naxos but she can sing amazingly, act amazingly and from what I've seen doesn't dance half bad either. On another point Corbelli (the master of comic timing) is also on the recording. Looks like a great version (though as with all bel canto bar The Barber I am not familiar with it yet because of blasted deadlines...)!

It's absolutely one of my favourite DVDs. Dessay is hilarious.

Lucille Ball with a voice. Beverly Sills on the manic side: that's my impression of Dessay

Until one sees her in Lucia or Traviata. Then one runs out of superlatives and metaphors

I have the NAXOs Tancredi set but it is a shortened version, so decided I must also have this, besides the lovely voiced Eva Mei is on it.

Not a huge Sutherland fan, but given my addiction to Donizetti's Maria Stuarda, it is a must-have:

Seems there are at least half a dozen left within reasonable price. This Sutherland is 1971. There is another Sutherland with Pavarotti from 1975.
