I am awestruck! I had not considered this performance and once I listened to clips I was hooked.

    Ordered:

And since there was a DVD of the same for cheap, I figured I am going to have to get it anyway, so...

Ordered (DVD #7 of this opera):

And to think, three weeks ago I had no idea what this opera was about.

My favorite Holländer DVD. Definitely not traditional, but I think Harry Kupfer's concept of the Dutchman as Senta's fantasy is worked out very effectively over the course of the opera.

Thanks to Soave Fanciulla, this is my My 8th and 9th Fanciulla DVDs purchased since I discovered this opera less than a month ago! I don't think there are any others available, so I stop now.

I got this from a very interesting little outfit that is run by a tenor who I'm told gets the rights to produce these albums. His selection is relatively small but interesting. Some have better sound than others. The one I purchased has pretty decent sound and you can sample it from the seller, Bel Canto Society). Partway down that page on the left you will see they sell CDs, DVDs, Streams, VHS, Downloads, Books and Magazines and other items.

Oh, and I did run this by Luiz Gazzola and he is perfectly fine with my posting this site for all to check out.

I would check out any sound samples provided and beware if sound samples are not present as these are historical performances. Also, they claim to have the best sounding CDs of historical performances and give a detailed discussion of how they go about cleaning up the sound.
