(This recording of) Tristan und Isolde has really captured me at the moment; it's exciting, profound and beautiful. If I had any family silver to sell, I think I would want to "do a Florestan" (listen to every £$%& recording ever made).

Awesome! You only go around this life one time so go for the gusto! Have the music you want as otherwise someone else will spend your money after you are gone. May as well enjoy it now. And,

    Happy Birthday!

Since Presto is having its annual opera sale . . .

Conductor/orchestra: Sir Colin Davis, Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden
    Director: Marco Arturo Marelli
Cast: Susan Anthony (Primadonna/Ariadne), Jon Villars (Tenor/Bacchus), Sophie Koch (Composer), Íride Martínez (Zerbinetta), et. al.

Need to familiarize myself with this opera since it's on the Cincinnati Opera's 2019 schedule, and the only recording I have is of the seldom-performed 1912 original version.

Conductor/orchestra: Zubin Mehta, Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra
Cast: Anneliese Rothenberger, Reri Grist, Fritz Wunderlich, Gerhard Unger, Fernando Corena, Michael Heltau

I've wanted this particular recording of Die Entführung aus dem Serail for ages, but it wasn't always in stock. Now it is.

    I can't recommend this recording.
The dynamics are way too exaggerated.
If you have the sound at a level to properly hear the voices,
the louder parts will blow you out of your seat.
    Not recommended.

De gustibus . . . I have the Barenboim Parsifal and really like it -- but admittedly, I purchased it for the cast members.
