Having listened to the three complete operas in my big 28-disk Rachmaninoff set I liked them so much I decided to get another set of the operas, so:

Not to neglect Act 1 of Monna Vanna, Rachmaninoff's unfinished opera, I ordered a sung-in-Russian set to complement the sung-in-English one that came in my big set.

There is even a third set that I can pick up if I get that crazy about it. I'll have to report back but I am not much of a music critic. I can cite others pretty good though:

Remarkably Aleko was composed in a month as a graduation exercise with no foreknowledge ot the subject of the opera writing exercise. Upon its performance by Rachmaninoff to the graduating committee of the Moscow Conservatory, he was given a 5+ (A+) and awarded the Great Gold Medal.

    Oooh! That looks very tempting!
