That's the first Tosca CD I ever bought & it's still my favourite. Carreras is beyond good (imo).

One can, however, have too few. I WANT the Salzburg Don Carlo with der Jonas, Harteros and Pape (Nat lies on floor and drums heels, crying piteously)

Pssst! Nat! It's the Munich one you want. The Salzburg one hasn't been done yet. And besides, it's with Salminen. And Thomas Hampson.

Yes! And I'm also hoping that the Munich Il Trovatore with der Jonas and Harteros scheduled for next summer will eventually be released on DVD.

What's the deal with "der Jonas". Why don't we write The Fleming, El Flórez, La Dessay, 的 Jo, Jo Garanca etc. as well.

I picked up this box set on "Black Friday" with a 30% off coupon from Barnes & Noble and three $25 US gift cards that I had been holding for something special. I'm guessing this qualifies.

No I don't WANT that one. I WANT the Salzburg one, with Jonas and Harteros and Pape. But the naughty DVD companies won't issue it.

I recently bought Rossini's Mosè in Egitto from Pesaro on DVD and I have watched some of it. The singing is good, if nothing exceptional, but what I totally fail to understand, is the production. The Egyptians are portrayed as Palestinians and the Jews, led by an Osama bin Laden looking Moses, want to leave - as if from Israel! Now that there is at least a ceasefire in the real life between the two, I find it hard to watch this kind of humour, if you can call it that.

I'm not throwing this version away by any means. I just feel a bit upset after the recent escalation of hostilities. I sincerely hope that the ceasefire could last and extend to peace. Rossini has composed some wonderfully beautiful music here. I have not reached the final ensemble yet. And people who call others "narror-minded" could perhaps use a "mirrow".

It's common usage in German to preface a person's given name with the article. Mesdames Fleming and Dessay would indeed be referred to as die Fleming or die Dessay.
