    I agree!!

I'm sure I'll think of more but for the time being, here are two.

The Water Sprite's aria from Dvořák's Rusalka - Celý svět nedá ti, nedá.

To me this is the most melodious moment in the whole opera.
(Yeah I know, I must have funny ears! My friend, who adores the soprano voice, says her ears are delicate and shell like so reckons mine must be big and hairy!)

    -------------------------------------

Rocco's aria from Beethoven's Fidelio - Hat man nicht auch Gold beineben.

    Ditto above (hairy ear moment)

My ears are slight smaller and a little less hairy as I like baritones.

I would like big green ears with yellow stripes and purple spots and silver tentacles at the top. I like all sort of voice types.

I second the pur ti miro but the first thing that sprung to mind was Gluck's Paride ed Elena, Act 2 Scene 3 Le belle immagini sung by Paride (or Magdalena Kožená in McCreesh's recording).

    ------------

Edit: since you said you had trouble posting videos, I'm doing it for you:

    - Mozart: Canzonetta sull’ aria from Le Nozze di Figaro

Oh yeah, I know that one:

I have no idea to this day what those two Italian ladies were singing about. Truth is, I don't wanna know. Some things are best left unsaid. I'd like to think they were singing about something so beautiful it can't be expressed in words, and it makes your heart ache because of it.

We should close nominations or we will lose focus. 38 arias, duets, overtures, etc., is more than enough for the vote.

    ------------

So, from the list above and only from the list above, please vote for your top five in any order, and let's see if one of them emerges as a winner; one point for each vote.

If you can, please copy and paste the list with the totals and update them, so that it's instantly tabulated.

I'll start (it's difficult; so many great melodies!):

    -Intermezzo, Cavalleria Rusticana
    -The Moon Song, Rusalka
    -Meditation, Thais
-Soave sia il vento, Cosi fan tutte
    -Laschia chi'io pianga, Rinaldo - 1
    -Ombra mai fu, Serse
    -Casta Diva, Norma - 1
    -Barcarolle, Les contes d'Hoffmann
-Mon coeur s'ouvre a ta voix, Samson et Dalila
-O du mein holder Abendstern, Tannhauser - 1
    -Intermezzo, Pagliacci
    -Nuit d'ivresse, Les Troyens
    -Flower Duet, Lakme
-Je crois entendre encore, Les Pecheurs de perles - 1
    -Overture, La Traviata
    -Overture, Tannhauser
-The presentation of the rose, Der Rosenkavalier - 1
-O mio babbino caro, Gianni Schicchi

If I had acted in time, I would have added "Mira, O' Norma" but there it is.

    So:

    1. Gluck, das mir verblieb, Die tote Stadt
    2. Meditation, Thais
    3. O, du mein holder Abendstern, Tannhäuser
    4. Ombra mai fu, Serse
    5. Flower Duet, Lakme

Thanks for your vote, Hoffmann, but folks, please, when you vote, rather do the copying and pasting adding your votes so that it's immediately tabulated. I'll do it for Hoffmann's vote but if you all do it then and there when you vote, it will be easier, thanks.

    -The Moon Song, Rusalka
    -Meditation, Thais - 1
-Soave sia il vento, Cosi fan tutte
    -Laschia chi'io pianga, Rinaldo - 1
