This information on next year’s Bayreuth Festival comes from the September issue of Das Opernglas since the Festspiele’s own web site ( is still lacking a number of details.

The new production of Der Ring des Nibelungen will be directed by Valentin Schwarz with sets by Andrea Cozzi. Pietari Inkinen will be on the podium, and the cast features two Siegfrieds – Andreas Schager in Siegfried and Stephen Gould in Götterdämmerung – and three Brünnhildes: Petra Lang (Die Walküre), Daniela Köhler (Siegfried), and Christine Goerke (Götterdämmerung). Klaus Florian Vogt and Lise Davidsen will sing the Wälsung twins, with Günther Groissböck as Wotan/The Wanderer, Christa Mayer as Fricka, and Georg Zeppenfeld as Hunding. Other soloists include John Lundgren (Alberich), Arnold Bezuyen (Mime), Stefan Vinke (Loge), Regina Hangler (Freia), Ain Anger (Fasolt and Hagen), Wilhelm Schwinghammer (Fafner), Elisabeth Teige (Gutrune), Tomasz Konieczny (Günther), and Wiebke Lehmkuhl (Erda and Waltraute in Götterdämmerung).
Three cycles will be presented 27 July-1 August, 8-13 August, and 24-29 August, with individual performances of Das Rheingold on 17 August and Siegfried on 21 August.
