Spotify listening:
I simply don't know what Placidone is thinking - or the record companies, although judging from some Amazon reviews there are listeners who don't seem to have noticed that instead of a baritone they got an aging tenor. "He's amazing for his age" doesn't make him good or correct for the fach.
I thought that this was OK but not overwhelming. I loved her Giovanna D'Arco aria though.

Well, until the arrival of Laura Aikin in the show, this one was headed for the garbage can. From that point on, it was a different story. And, I'm glad I waited because everything about the last couple of minutes, including the music, was outstanding.
