With a cast that strong, I hope they also recorded it and will release it on DVD/Blu-ray soon. I will be surprised it they don't.
It was certainly recorded; it was broadcast live on Arte on Sunday. It's supposed to still be available for a couple of months, but I can't find it. But it will probably turn up.
And yes, the cast was truly spectacular! Cecilia Bartoli is one of the greatest Cleopatras on record. And a DVD would actually be worth getting just for Anne Sofie von Otter's Cornelia alone.
I've got Mignon on the brain. Does anyone know of a good dvd of Mignon? I'd love to own this opera! Does there exist a version with Sills in the role? Anyway suggestions are most welcome!

I liked this a lot! Is it the perfect recording of Ercole sul Termodonte. Well not perfect, but it gets awfully close to perfection. This was the first time that I listened to a Vivaldi opera, and it is not the last. At least if I can find recordings like this.
Just listened to this again today. I LOVE Vivaldi operas, and this is a stellar cast.

I put it on whenever I need to remind myself why I like Rolando Villazón. I still dunno why they made Alceste a tenor, but hey, we got Topi Lehtipuu, so I'm in no way complaining.
Villazón is surprisingly good in this Unlike Domingo, who manages to make Handel sound like verismo, he's adapted to the style and fits in well, and is a virile strong Ercole. And Romina Basso is gorrrrrgeous.

I've heard some bad thing about Villazón's Händel, although I've never heard it. But I love him in this!
But the part could have been transposed up a little. He doesn't have quite the punch on the low notes. It's really more of a high baritone role.

There is something about general sound of this recording that made it almost annoying to listen to me, despite selection of great music and great singer. Is this bad modern orchestra or just a period ensamble?
