Angela and Alagna.quote: the guardian 2010
[Gheorghiu] proves to be heavenly in it from start to finish. Alagna nicely captures Fritz's emotional uncertainties and collapsing self-delusion...and there's marvellous conducting from Alberto Veronesi. It's real feel-good stuff...
What could go wrong?

Purchased under the Decca Eloquence label with the Bluebeards Castle but this original cover as released under the London label is so much nicer and suits the piece.
Contains some beautiful music. So good, that the next non opera CD I buy is definitely going to be Kodály.
maybe.

1960s RCA era Caballe was her glory days for me, she started out her recording career with a more dramatic bel canto style and later mellowed out much more......the two early recordings above capture that spirited bel canto style with great supporting casts!
She also has several great RCA recital CDs from this early period......
